SterlingOSB helps house homeless with unique accommodation

Norbord has supplied 11 packs of its market-leading SterlingOSB to help a pioneering Scottish charity, Social Bite, build accommodation for homeless people in Edinburgh.

Social Bite was set up in 2012 by Josh Littlejohn MBE and Alice Thompson, to raise money for Scotland’s homeless. The charity, a quarter of whose employees have struggled with homelessness, works to provide employment for people and get them off the street.

The latest scheme is to build accommodation ‘pods’, which are made from natural sustainable, healthy materials including SterlingOSB. Free of charge, Norbord supplied eight packs of 11mm OSB3 sheathing and three packs of 18mm OSB3 tongue-and-groove flooring which have been used by Invergordon-based off-site construction specialist, Carbon Dynamics, to build 11 relocatable homes. Each ‘pod’ will compromise two sleeping compartments with central bathroom, kitchen and dining rooms.
