The successful applicant will:
- Engage with and be an effective proactive member of West Fraser`s safety programmes, including taking part in system development and safety programme committees.
- Ensure optimisation of the full manufacturing processes, with a focus on manufacturing cost data.
- Develop strong understanding of site metrics and KPI`s to enable a focus on the business requirements.
- Manage and develop the existing West Fraser QMS for both business units, including the laboratory functions and online QA measuring systems.
- Effectively integrate the QMS, PMS [Production Management System] with West Fraser’s ERP System.
- Maintain control of SKU recipes within BoMs and the ERP system.
- Prepare, plan and implement trials for continual process improvement.
- Develop systems and tools to better visualise and raise understanding of the processes.
- Have deep knowledge of the processes and products; utilise this to train and upskill operators across the business units.
- Ensure critical root cause analysis is performed when addressing process and quality issues.
- Ensure compliance to relevant EN standards.
- Ensure compliance to the Construction Products Regulations [CPR] and West Fraser product Declarations of Performance [DoP].
- Maintain accreditation to ISO 9001 and CE Mark.
- Have direct and progressive relationships with technical suppliers of process equipment and raw materials, to allow control of costs and quality and to ensure latest industry standards are adopted.
- Utilise CI tools and systems for process analytics, utilising aspects of SPC, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Link with customers to understand their needs and ensure a good fit for our products within their processes.
- Investigate customer complaints and ensure systems are in place to avoid recurrence.
- Control and report on process critical areas, such as raw material usages, waste and product throughputs.
- Form strong relationships with all departments within West Fraser Europe to assist with all aspects of the Quality team’s objectives.
- Develop all members of the Quality team to build a full knowledge of the process and to enable all to have a positive role in process control, as well as stimulating change.
- Maintain and control data acquisition and reporting systems.
- Integrate with CWP industry bodies when required, such as WPIF and EPF.
- Maintain control of and develop documentation related to quality systems and operator checks.
- Report and present data to other senior managers to convey information appropriately and aid in the development of the production processes.
- Carrying out internal audits
- Supporting and coordinating external audits in compliance with EN300 standards
The minimum qualifications/experience required for the role:
- 3-5 Years previous experience at Quality Manager level
- Educated to degree level and/or equivalent experience
- Fully qualified auditor conversant with ISO 9001:2015
- Background in quality testing/checks and standards/regulations
