Why all builders should use the special SterlingOSB Zero

The housebuilding and builders’ merchant community already knows about the prowess of Norbord and the array of fantastic go-to panel boards; made in the UK and top of the charts in terms of quality, availability and price stability. The interactive product guide tells you all you need to know quickly and easily, while the housebuilders’ checklist can help you make sure you have everything you need for your next job!

And we all know what the good-looking OSB product does; it is seen everywhere from hoardings to roofs; and from uber-cool shopfittings and units to low-carbon or carbon negative homes.

With the buzzwords carbon-neutral and carbon-negative gaining momentum, it is worth looking again and making sure you choose the SterlingOSB Zero family of products when specifying this type of board.

Norbord’s portfolio of OSB products is one of the most popular in the building and interior design industries and comprises SterlingOSB Zero OSB3,  SterlingOSB Zero Tongue and Groove, SterlingOSB Zero Fire Solutions and SterlingOSB Zero StrongFix. They are all interesting variants of the precision-engineered OSB3 board; BBA-approved and designed for humid conditions, the board contains zero added formaldehyde and is unique in the market by being the only ZAF OSB manufactured in the UK.  Produced in Scotland from forest thinnings taken from sustainably managed forests, the board is certified according to the guidelines of the FSC or PEFC.  Here in the UK means – minimal transport costs; for the environment and for the pocket.

Norbord’s SterlingOSB Zero family uses a formaldehyde free resin system to bind the thousands of strands that make up each board.

SterlingOSB Zero is even more environmentally-friendly to produce than its predecessors. The pMDI binder cures at a lower temperature than UF/MUF resins so less heat energy is consumed during manufacture. It is also safer to produce since pMDI resin uses water as a catalyst in the curing process; UF/MUF resins need the addition of ammonium nitrate – an explosive chemical – to harden.

So in these times of low stock. Brexit uncertainty and world-saving products, never has the SHOP UK message been so relevant.
