Steve Roebuck, our Director of Health, Safety and Environment in Europe chats about how 10,000 people can sing from the same hymn sheet – and act!

At West Fraser, words like teamwork, responsibility and accountability aren’t just corporate-speak; they reflect how we show up for each other, every day. As we have grown to over 10,000 colleagues, each one of us has made the conscious decision to do better – for our families, for our colleagues we work alongside and for our planet. That is why I believe that West Fraser signed up to the SBTi(1) and made a public commitment not just for the short term but to give back. We do want to improve the world we live in and leave this place we call home a little better than when we found it. As you all know by now, West Fraser’s sustainability goals are published in black and white for all to see: https://www.westfraser.com/sites/default/files/2025-05/West%20Fraser%202024%20Sustainability%20Report%20-%20Digital.pdf. It’s the work that happens at our mills every day that provides the teams with the launch pad to achieve great things. I’m extremely proud of the work that has been done but this is only the beginning, and we all have a part to play.

At times, we don’t take the time to appreciate the size, scale, and impact of our business as we work through our daily tasks. But be reassured that every small improvement contributed by everyone across West Fraser helps us to achieve great things”.

SBTi(1) The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis.
